About the Role
We are seeking three enthusiastic Engineering Assistants to join our Engineering & Project Delivery team for a 6-month internship program.
Successful applicants will be placed within one of the following areas:
- Infrastructure Services: Support the delivery and maintenance of Council's infrastructure assets including roads, footpaths, drainage systems and public domain assets. You'll assist with inspections, investigations, asset management activities, project delivery and responding to customer requests.
- Design: Assist with engineering design, drafting and project planning activities using software such as AutoCAD Civil3D. You'll gain experience in field surveys, data collection and the design of community infrastructure projects.
- Activation & Compliance: Support compliance and operational engineering activities by assisting with inspections, restoration works, contractor supervision and stakeholder enquiries relating to Council assets and the public domain.
Working alongside experienced engineers and technical professionals, you'll gain valuable exposure to infrastructure projects, asset management, inspections, design activities and project delivery within a Local Government environment.
About You
You are currently studying a Bachelor of Engineering (or equivalent) and are keen to apply your learning in a practical workplace environment.
You are enthusiastic, reliable and eager to gain hands-on experience while developing your technical and professional skills.
What You'll Be Doing
- Assisting with engineering investigations and infrastructure projects
- Supporting site inspections and field data collection
- Assisting with asset management activities and reporting
- Supporting design and drafting activities
- Assisting with project administration and documentation
- Working collaboratively with engineers, surveyors and project teams
- Contributing to projects that benefit the Ryde community
In Addition, You Will Have
- Current enrolment in a Bachelor of Engineering degree or equivalent
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work effectively within a team environment
- Commitment to workplace health and safety principles
- Current Class C Driver Licence or ability to obtain one during your studies
Desirable
- Previous engineering or construction experience
- Experience using AutoCAD, Civil 3D or similar software
- Surveying experience through university projects or employment
- Previous experience working in a customer-focused environment
Your salary for this 6-month opportunity will be $1,084.15 per week + 12.5% superannuation.
