About the Role
Reporting to the Programs & Engagement Librarian, the purpose of this role is to maximise community satisfaction with City of Ryde Libraries through supporting the development and delivery of high-quality community engagement programs for adults, seniors and people living with a disability.
The library operates in a team environment. The role involves extensive collaboration with Library teams and other areas of Council to deliver strategic objectives and initiatives.

We are seeking an experienced Library Programs Technician – Adults & Inclusion within the Library Programs Team. In this role you will combine your passion and experience in planning and delivering library programs with a focus on adults, seniors and people living with a disability. You will develop and foster strong relationships with your team and with internal and external partners to innovate and facilitate high-quality programs supporting Readers’ Advisory, digital literacy, creativity and social connection.
Key responsibilities include:
- Assisting in the development, delivery and promotion of a diverse and high-quality range of programs and activities suitable for identified target groups with a focus on adults, seniors and people living with a disability, including technology, creative, educational and Readers’ Advisory programs
- Maintaining specialist information services including the Community Information Database
- Supporting programs and activities suitable for a range of audiences that may include children and young adults, seniors and homebound community members, CALD and Council staff
- Supporting Library outreach and partnerships, including delivery of community engagement initiatives and maintenance of the Library Exhibition Program
- Providing professional and responsive customer and information services
- Providing leadership for customer service shifts when assigned Shift Supervisor
- Contributing to and support the achievement of Library Service goals as identified in City of Ryde’s strategic and planning documents
Key Requirements
- Diploma of Library and Information Science or equivalent library technician qualification recognised by the Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA)
- Working With Children Check
- Current Driver’s Licence (Class C)
- Demonstrated experience in the development, delivery and/or promotion of innovative and diverse programs and activities, including providing quality learning opportunities and cultural experiences
- Demonstrated experience in the delivery of digital literacy programs and activities for current and emerging technologies
- Excellent oral and written English language communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- High level customer service skills and experience
- Knowledge of and enthusiasm for information technology and troubleshooting
Your commencing annual salary will range from $73,267.92 to $91,584.90 + superannuation, dependent on the skills, qualifications and relevant experience of the suitable candidate.
