The City of Ryde is seeking an experienced and forward-thinking Manager, Circular Economy & Environment to lead our waste, resource recovery, environmental resilience and sustainability functions. This is a unique opportunity to shape how Council delivers environmentally responsible, customer-focused and financially sustainable services that support a low-waste and resilient future for our community.
Reporting to the Director Development & Regulation, you'll be a key member of the Directorate leadership team, driving strategic initiatives, leading high-performing teams, managing major contracts and partnerships, and influencing environmental outcomes across the organisation and the community.
About the Role
As Manager, Circular Economy & Environment, you will lead Council's sustainability, resource recovery and environmental resilience agenda, driving innovative programs and services that deliver positive outcomes for the community and environment. You'll oversee waste and recycling services, including FOGO implementation and strategic land asset, while managing key contracts, partnerships and service improvements.
Working closely with senior leaders, stakeholders and the community, you'll provide strategic advice, foster collaboration, and lead a high-performing team committed to innovation, accountability and continuous improvement.
About You
You are an authentic and inspiring leader who can balance strategic thinking with operational delivery. You enjoy building relationships, leading change and working collaboratively to solve complex challenges.
You will bring:
- Relevant tertiary qualifications and extensive experience in circular economy, waste management, sustainability, environmental services or a related field.
- Demonstrated success leading complex services, contracts, infrastructure or major projects.
- Strong leadership experience, with the ability to build engaged, capable and high-performing teams.
- Sound financial, commercial and contract management expertise.
- Experience navigating governance, compliance and risk management requirements.
- Exceptional communication, stakeholder engagement and influencing skills.
- Strong analytical capabilities and a commitment to evidence-based decision-making.
- A customer and community-focused approach, aligned with public sector values.

Your commencing annual salary will range will be negotiable for the right applicant, dependent on your experience and qualifications.
