The City of Ryde is seeking an experienced and passionate Senior Team Leader - Tree Management (known as Senior Coordinator – Tree Management within City of Ryde) to lead the strategic and day‑to‑day delivery of Council’s tree management services across public and private land.

This is a key leadership role for someone who is passionate about arboriculture, community outcomes, and environmental sustainability. You’ll provide expert advice, guide best‑practice outcomes, and play a critical role in protecting and enhancing Ryde’s urban canopy for current and future generations.

 

 What you’ll be doing

You’ll lead Council’s Tree Management team to deliver best‑practice urban forestry outcomes aligned with strategic priorities. This includes overseeing tree health assessments on public and private land, ensuring compliance with DCP 9.5 and the Tree Management Plan, responding to illegal tree works, and managing complex customer enquiries. You’ll work closely with internal stakeholders and the community to improve service delivery, strengthen policy understanding, and support long‑term environmental outcomes.

In addition you will also have:

  • A Diploma (Level 5) in Arboriculture or strong, hands‑on industry experience in tree management
  • A current NSW Class C driver’s licence
  • Proven experience leading, coordinating, or supervising a team, with the ability to support and motivate others
  • Solid industry experience with a good working knowledge of Australian Standards for tree work
  • Confidence in preparing reports and written correspondence for a range of audiences, including internal teams and community members
  • The ability to manage changing workloads, balance priorities, and meet deadlines
  • Experience using tree testing and investigative equipment to assess tree condition and risk.

Your commencing annual salary will range from $108,604.71 to $141,186.12 + $13,500 motor vehicle allowance + superannuation, dependent on your experience and qualifications.
