About the Role

As the Senior Coordinator Transport, known internally as Senior Coordinator City Transport, you will be part of the Transport team delivering well-evidenced and collaboratively developed transport strategies and plans via a project led approach that will shape the future of the City of Ryde. 

 

Operating within the Advocacy and Strategy Directorate, the City of Ryde’s Transport team is distinct from the Traffic Services team. The Transport team’s work focuses on advocacy, strategic planning, active transport, and the integration of land use and transport. Traffic Engineering functions, including traffic modelling, do not fall within the remit of the Transport team.

 

Your work in the Transport team will involve the preparation and implementation of transport strategies and plans, with reference to integrated land use and transport, sustainable transport, active transport and other relevant documents aiming to shape the future of City of Ryde’s transport. The role will have one or more direct reports.

 

You will draft and/or lead the formulation of Council reports, bulletins, ELT briefing notes with reference to transport matters, providing evidence-based recommendations and clearly articulating the multidimensional implications of Council decisions.

 

You will also assist in the review of major development proposals affecting the City of Ryde through development pathways including State Significant Development Applications (SSDA), State Significant Infrastructure Projects (SSI), Development Applications (DA), Review of Environmental Factors (REFs) and pre-lodgement review/consultations.

 

The role also requires engaging with diverse stakeholders including businesses, industry, government, community and internal Directorates to maximise transport and access outcomes.

 

The Senior Coordinator Transport supports the Transport Department Manager in linking transport planning with land use and infrastructure planning, and social/sustainability impact perspectives to Council's strategic thinking and plans. 

 

About You

We’re looking for a strategic collaborator with a future-forward mindset who can apply the technical aspects of transport planning including complex data analysis and sense-making, combined with the ability to lead projects and influence change to deliver community-focused outcomes. You bring to this role experience in designing and delivering innovative and contemporary transport polices, plans and strategies in a dynamic and complex environment.

 

In addition, you will also have:

 

  • Tertiary qualifications and/or extensive experience in in an associated area such as Transport Planning, Urban and Regional Planning, Transport Engineering, Urban Design, or Geography.
  • Proven ability to formulate transport strategies, plans and policies.
  • Experience in preparing Council reports, bulletins, ELT briefing notes and lead stakeholder workshops.
  • Strong writing skills and experience in communicating complex technical matters to non-technical audiences including members of the public, stakeholders and decision makers.
  • Proven experience in designing and delivering practical, innovative transport policies and strategies aligned with Council, State and Federal legislative and policy frameworks.
  • Familiarity with the NSW planning system.
  • Proven ability to effectively engage, advocate for and influence outcomes related to transport services, infrastructure and accessibility.
  • Knowledge of transport planning strategies and policies, emerging access trends, placemaking principles and approaches.
  • Ability to lead and support the development of a high-performing team.

 

Your commencing annual salary will range from $119,026.44 to $151,758.71 + Superannuation, dependent on your experience and qualifications.
