About the Role

As an Environmental Health Officer at the City of Ryde, you will be working within a high performing team of experienced and new environmental health professionals. On any given day you will find yourself investigating localised public health and pollution incidents and completing a range of routine assessments of food premises, cooling towers, skin penetration premises, and public swimming pools. You will also provide technical advice in relation to acoustic and contamination reports for proposed development applications, undertake surveillance and assessment of sediment and erosion control measures on construction sites and more.

 

About You

You're a highly motivated and driven individual, with a relevant tertiary qualification and demonstrated experience or a sound theoretical understanding in undertaking a diverse range of environmental health related inspections and investigations. You are both customer service focused and detail orientated to ensure effective regulatory compliance that is driven via a strong education and community focus while also working cooperatively with businesses and the community.

You take great pride in your work and are able to meet tight deadlines using your exceptional priority and time management skills. You are confident in your ability to handle conflict situations and difficult customers with a calm demeanour, open communication and solutions focused approach.

In addition, you will also have:

  • A relevant tertiary qualification in an environmental health related field
  • Sound working or theoretical knowledge of relevant environmental health legislation 
  • Experience carrying out routine compliance assessments of food premises, cooling towers, skin penetration premises, and public swimming pools
  • Experience investigating public health risks, pollution incidents and similar environmental issues
  • Ability to assess environmental health risks and take appropriate action, including the use of enforcement options to rectify issues
  • Demonstrated experience assessing and commenting on the environmental health requirements of proposed development applications
  • Well-developed communication, problem solving and negotiation skills
  • Current NSW driver’s licence

Annual commencing salary offered for the successful applicant starts from $95,232.77 + superannuation + Leaseback, dependent on your experience and qualifications.
