City of Ryde Libraries comprises of five branches at Ryde, West Ryde, North Ryde, Eastwood, Gladesville and a significant online library. Our libraries are lively, busy places of social inclusion where members of our community borrow items for leisure and lifelong learning, learn about new technology, participate in activities, and use our spaces for studying.

 

About the Role

We have an exciting opportunity within our Library Collections Team for a motivated and experienced Library Technician Cataloguing (part-time), who is also passionate about providing excellent customer service. This position is responsible for providing quality collection and cataloguing services for our growing and diverse community.

This role works three full days per week as per the below table, including a Saturday at West Ryde Library and involves customer service shifts, occasional evenings and acting as shift supervisor as required.

Friday*

9am to 5pm

Saturday

9am to 5pm

*Set weekdays may be negotiable.

Your commencing rate of pay will be between $65,286.93 - $73,059.19 p.a. pro rata, plus superannuation, subject to your library qualifications and experience. 

About You

You bring to this role demonstrated experience in cataloguing, including the ability to produce high-quality cataloguing records. You are well-versed in the classification of library materials and learning resources and have proficient knowledge of various Library Management Systems. You're adept at using various Library Management Systems and have a thorough understanding of classifying library materials and learning resources. You'll also have the opportunity to showcase your exceptional customer service skills particularly when working branch shifts. The role requires exceptional attention to detail, excellent teamwork abilities, and the capacity to work independently.  

In addition, you will also have:

  • Successful completion of Diploma in Library and Information Services or equivalent qualification
  • Familiarity with MARC 21, MARC Edit, Dewey, Library of Congress Authorities and Libraries Australia database
  • Excellent teamwork skills with proven experience to also work independently
  • Experience in a vibrant customer service role and the ability to prioritise tasks
  • Extensive work experience in a library environment

Note: This is a Child Related position, and employment is subject to verification of the Working With Children Check status. The cost of obtaining a WWC clearance is at the applicant's expense.
